Such a statement seems fairly plausible in our modern society, in the age of hi-tech culture. The exceeding role of science in our life could easily be taken as forsaking the metaphysical aspect of the reality. But can we really admit that there are no problems left for us to solve? Are all the mysteries of nature finally unravelled?
No, most certainly that is not true.
Thus, the need for further explanation persists, the curiosity of human mind is still unsatisfied, still yearning. Moreover, the impact of all the knowledge that humanity has gathered over the ages is not as pleasing as we would wish. With the immense complication of our life new questions arise, it is ever harder to distinguish good from evil.
In my opinion, the need for religion is growing more and more dire, though at times we wont admit that. Faced with all the problems of existence in a nowadays society we often feel overwhelmed and confused. the ever-present pressure of day-to-day life may be blinding for some, but I deem that most people feel the same urge to find a final answer, or at least to seek it.
Of course, the existing religions prove less satisfying with years, as the science and logic improves and changes our way of thinking. But that doesnt mean that humanity does not need religion as such. It just needs to evolve and develop to match the times.
